Donald R. Harris, of Evansville, IN passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital. He was born in Princeton, IN, on February 5, 1940 to the late Harold R. Harris and Rose Serene Krietemeyer.

Don served in the U.S. Navy as a Submariner for 9 years. He attended Turning Point Church. He graduated from Bosse High School in 1958. Don loved to hunt, fish for catfish, attend local car shows and cruise ins, and was an avid clabber player.

He was also preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Judith Harris; step-father, Louie Krietemeyer; and sister, Shirley Osborne.

Don is survived by his son, Michael Harris; daughter, Linda Duckworth (Jerry); sons, Jeffery Harris and Scott Harris (Lori); grandchildren, Jeri Lynn and Jesse Duckworth, Elizabeth and Matthew Harris; step-granddaughters, Marnel and Christina; multiple great-grandchildren; long-term companion, Linda Johnston.

A Celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Alexander West Chapel. Friends may visit 12 p.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.

On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans - USSVI, please accept our sincere condolences at Donald’s passing. You and your loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers. May you find kindness to warm you, sympathy to comfort you, and cherished memories to bring peace to your heart.

We are forever grateful for Donald's service to our country in the United States Submarine service. Donald served on the USS Benjamin Franklin (SSBN-640), USS Tinosa (SSN-606), USS Chopper (SS-342), USS Spikefish (SS-404), and USS Ethan Allen (SSBN-608). To our Brother of the Phin we say, “Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch.”

Don was one Of my favorite players at Trop Casino playing his favorite game of Mississippi stud. What a super nice and kind guy he spoke never a harsh word l....he just loved playing the game win or lose. ❤️♣️♦️♠️ Don you were appreciated for your service to the Navy and to the American people.
I will always remember you and your mermaid necklace the one you rubbed for luck 😉. Rest In Peace my friend. You will be missed. I will see you on the other side. 🙏😇
