Donald "Don" Montgomery

Donald “Don” Wayne Montgomery, 81, of Evansville, Indiana passed away on Friday, September 2, 2022, at home. He was born November 16, 1940, in Evansville, to the late Arthur G. and Mary E. (McFarland) Montgomery.

Don served in the United States Navy from 1958-1961. He served on the USS Intrepid 74th Division Fighter Squad. Don was a member of the American Legion and participated in the 2018 Honor Flight. He loved hunting and fishing, crossword puzzles, reading his favorite novels by John Grisham and Louis Lamar and traveling, especially family trips.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Norma Jean Smith.

Don is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joyce Montgomery; and daughters, Trena Blanchard (Scott) and Marlena Hess (Brian); grandchildren, Jennifer Ivy, Michael Stevens, Nic Blanchard (Tiffany), Matthew Hess, Colton Blanchard (Taylor) and Bethany Yates (Brandon); great grandchildren, Kaylee, Kaylie, Ashlynn, Julian,

Gavin, Layla, Scarlett, Ethan and Logan; brother, Jack Montgomery (Betty); sisters, Trena Roedel and Cathy Fox.

The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Hospice, especially Don's nurse, Nancy.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Rev. Roger Tabb, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
