Donald Gene Mullen, 82, of Evansville, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018, at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville. He was born December 22, 1935, in Paducah, Kentucky, to Bethel and Blanche Mullen.
After moving to Evansville, Indiana at the age of 15, he was drafted in the U.S. Army at the age of 22 and served for five years. He was a lifetime member of St. Mark United Church of Christ, where he rang the bell for over 40 years. Don worked at Whirlpool for 34 years before retiring in 1998. He loved to play golf and played in the Whirlpool Golf League.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald; brother, Bill; and sister, Bonnie.
Don is survived by his wife of 60 years, Darlene “Sue” (Hape) Mullen; son, Richard; daughter, Donna Myers (David); six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sisters, Barbara Mercer (Jewel), Rose Meece (Don), and Patsy Viner (Melvin); brother, Wayne (Carol); and sister-in-law, Caroline.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, August 13, 2018, at Alexander Memorial Park, Heritage Chapel, 2200 Mesker Park Drive, officiated by Pastor Barbara Gaisser, with burial to follow. Friends may visit Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street and Monday from 1:00 PM until service time at the cemetery chapel.
