Obituary of Donald Ray Thompson
Donald Ray Thompson, 81, formerly of Evansville, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at Lyons Health and Living Center. He was born December 18, 1936 in Evansville to the late Louis and Helen (Overfield) Thompson. He retired from Alcoa. He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Daylight, the Lions Club of Elberfeld for over 30 years, Knights of Columbus in Haubstadt, St. Theresa Men’s Club, and was head of the German Township Booster Club Clabber League for many years. Donald hosted over 60 children from overseas with the Lion’s Club Youth Exchange. He loved clabber, was an avid card player and reader, and enjoyed bowling. Donald was preceded in death by granddaughter, Jenny Lynn and brother, Fred Thompson. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Myrna (Ours) Thompson; daughter, Roberta “Robin” Carter (Jeff) of Mt. Vernon; son, Vernon Thompson of Baskett, KY; daughter, Cheryl Barning of Evansville; daughter, Michaele McDonald (Russle) of Lyons, IN; grandchildren, Tyson, Heather, Amber, Janice, Vernon Levi, Stephanie, Jesse, Lane and Mia; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Pat Dunn (Bob) of Evansville, and brother, Bill Thompson (Mariann) of Joliet, IL. Services will be held at a later date.
