Doris was born March 17, 1926. She was the oldest of six children of the late Chris and Lucy Ethel (Coffman) Klingelhoefer. Doris graduated from Bosse High School and later attended business management classes at University of Evansville.
Doris worked at Whirlpool Corporation for 25 years. She enjoyed her work in the Personnel Department and Sears Sales. She also worked as a Production Supervisor at the Morgan Avenue plant before retiring as a Material Control Coordinator. She was a member of the Whirlpool Management Club.
During her retirement years she remained very active and independent doing what she loved most - playing with and caring for two of her six precious grandchildren, Shelley and Wyatt. She loved taking them on special outings, making fun memories, and baking chocolate chip cookies with them!
Doris was a woman of many talents. She took watercolor painting lessons from local artist, Rita Wannamuehler, after she retired. Her artwork is lovingly displayed in the homes of her family and friends and will be on display at the service. She was a lifelong member of Bethel United Church of Christ where she founded a truly special group of friends called the Bethel Ladies Lunch Bunch. Doris was a wonderful homemaker with exceptional cooking and baking skills. Her treats brought joy to family, friends, and neighbors. She enjoyed traveling the world with the Midwest Golden Girls (Joan Lindsay, Ruth Schlusemeyer, and Loretta Dehaven!) She was a seasoned clabber player and also enjoyed a special bond with her bridge club ladies! She had a creative spirit. She loved crochet, knitting, sewing, and gardening and these brought her great joy throughout her life.
Doris was preceded in death by her sister, Louise Jandebeur; brothers, John Klingelhoefer, Carl Kling, Paul Klingelhoefer and Kenny Klingelhoefer.
Doris is survived by sons; Don Rohlfer, Bob Rohlfer; daughter, Linda Shekell (Greg); grandchildren; Andy Shekell (Heather), Brad Shekell (Natalie), Shelley Dunville (Keagan), Wyatt Rohlfer, Traci Arnold, Samantha Land; six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Brickyard Healthcare Woodlands and Heart to Heart Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. We are sorry you will not get any more free backrubs from Doris.
