Earl Edward Ebinger, 100, of Evansville, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2025, after reaching the milestone he was most proud of—becoming a centenarian. He often joked that he was determined to make it to 100 “just to see what all the fuss was about,” and he did it with grace, humor, and a sparkle in his eye.
Born on August 8, 1924, in Evansville, Indiana, Earl was the son of the late Edward and Carrie (Satterfield) Ebinger. A graduate of Central High School, Class of 1942, he witnessed a century of incredible change and met it with a steady spirit and kind heart.
He worked for Whirlpool Corporation for 18 years, retiring in 1982. Known for his reliability and humility, Earl enjoyed the simple things in life. He was a gifted self-taught pianist who played beautifully by ear, and he took great pride in his yard and garden, where he spent many peaceful hours.
Earl is survived by his loving brother, Paul Ebinger (Dorothy) of Bradenton, FL; and devoted nieces Dana Curtis, Carla Gehlhausen (Jeff), Terri Lewis (Doug), Linda Ebinger, and Charlene Stratman. He was also blessed with eight great-nieces and nephews and seven great-great-nieces and nephews, all of whom brought him great joy.
A special acknowledgment goes to his niece Dana Curtis, who was always just a phone call away. Her dedication, support, and loving care meant the world to Earl and helped him enjoy his independence for as long as possible.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Carl Ebinger; his sister, Carolyn Curtis; and brother, Robert Ebinger.
A graveside service to honor Earl’s life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Oak Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.
