Earl Gordon Parker, 89, of Elberfeld, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation. He was born August 9, 1932 in Muhlenberg, Kentucky to the late Earl M. Parker and Cara Louise (Belcher) Green.
Earl will be loved and missed by many. His favorite pastime included Bible study and making memories with anyone he met.
He served with the US Army, 7th Infantry, 32nd regiment during the Korean War 1950-1952. Earl was a decorated Disabled Veteran including the Purple Heart for combat related injuries.
Earl enjoyed time spent with his family and especially holidays with all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman including camping with Betty and children. Earl was a skilled craftsman who enjoyed building and flying RC aircraft and was a member of the Evansville RC model club into his later years. Other hobbies included tending to his purple martins, flower gardening and making coffee runs with his golf cart.
Earl is survived by his children; Carol (Parker) Weintraut, husband Matt; Michael and Susan Parker; Joel and Beth Parker; Sheryl (Parker) Ezell, husband Jeff; grandchildren, Amanda Mackey, Matthew and Lacey Parker, Kelly Dallas, Dana Harris, husband Brian; Megan Parker, Rachel Mulvey, husband Evan, Kristin Parker, Isabelle Parker; Laura Crawley, husband Nick, Kevin Jolly, Kendall Ezell and six great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by wife, Betty Jean Parker; and grandson, Benjamin Earl Parker.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Alexander East Chapel, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park where Military Rites will be held. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors in his memory.
