

He retired from Adams Office Machines and was a former member of Union United Church of Christ. He was a Shriner, where he was a lifetime member of the Drum and Bugle Corps and also a member of the Masonic Lodge #174 in Newburgh and Scottish Rite. Edgar was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He received the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars and the United Nations Service Medal. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1114 and enjoyed bowling.
Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, Ennis and Lena Oakley; sister, Helen Lobello; brother, Lawrence Oakley; and sister, Betty Krack.
He is survived by his wife, Norma J. Oakley, in August they would have been married 60 years; daughter, Susan DeHaven (David), all of Evansville; grandchildren, John DeHaven (Katie), Nichole Atherton (Andrew), Bradley and Zacharey DeHaven; great-grandchildren, Ryker, Keira, Alexis, Austin and Channing; nieces and nephews.
Services will be 12:00 PM Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Chaplain Bob Sheets, with entombment in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM, with the Drum and Bugle Corps and Shriners walk through at 6:45 PM and a Masonic service at 7:00 PM.
The family would like to thank Dr. Browning, his staff, and Vista Care Hospice nurses for their loving care.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or Oncology Hematology Association.
