Edgar O. Smith, 86, passed from this life into the arms of his Heavenly Father on July 11, 2022 at St. Vincent’s Hospital. He was surrounded by his loving and devoted family. He was born in Haubstadt, Indiana on March 7, 1936, the son of Onis and Bernerd Smith.
Edgar graduated from Haubstadt High School in 1954. He was employed at Sears where he was a valued HVAC technician. He also served in the National Guard. He was a faithful member of Salem Church of Darmstadt. Edgar enjoyed gardening, baking, wood working, and country music. He had several favorite TV shows. He was especially a fan of Red Skelton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Ann (Lynn) Ernest and Lois (Fred) Prescott.
He is survived by his son, Michael (Susan) of Spurgeon, Indiana; daughter, Darla (Jerry) of Evansville; and brother, Earl (Ruth) Smith of Evansville. Five grandchildren, five great grandchildren, nephews and nieces will share cherished memories of Edgar. Additionally, Jo Ann Robinson, the mother of his children.
A celebration of Edgar’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday July 15, 2022 at Salem Church of Darmstadt, officiated by Rev. Jay Warren. Friends and family may visit from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
