Edward Wayne Diamond, 87, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at the Linda E. White Hospice Center in Evansville. He was born in Evansville, Indiana on February 1, 1933 to the late William J. and Grace (Williams) Diamond.
Ed worked at and retired from Southern Indiana Gas and Electric Company. He graduated from Evansville Central High School in 1950, and then graduated from Evansville College. Ed served in the United States Army for two years, stationed in Okinawa. Ed was a long-time member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church. He was Master of Lessing Lodge #464, and was a member of the Scottish Rite, the Hadi Shrine Color Guard, and was involved in leadership of Morton J. Compton Demolay.
Ed will be remembered for his great love of animals, his quick wit and sharp sense of humor. He also had a real love of classical music and the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra. His kind soul will be greatly missed by family and his many friends.
In 1963, Ed married Martha Buchanan, and they were married 47 years before her death in 2010. Ed was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bill E, and Darrel K Diamond, and a sister, Marlene Miethe.
He is survived by his sister Dolores Bryant, brother, Donald R Diamond and his wife Jo, sister-in-law, Emily Gallmeister, numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and his beloved dogs and constant companions, Thunder and Lightning.
There will be a private burial at Park Lawn Cemetery. A memorial to Ed’s life will be held at a later date.
