

He retired from Traffic Engineering with the City of Evansville after 41 years, where he received the Mayor’s Award for years of service. He sang with the professional singing group, The Magnificent’s. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed watching sports. Edward was a wonderful father and grandfather. He always wore a smile and everyone enjoyed his company.
Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Alfreda Hathaway; and sister, Barbara Pullom.
He is survived by his son, Ricky Hathaway; daughters, Anita (Ron) Diggs, Delores (James) Johnson and Cherice Saunders; longtime companion, Margie Waddell; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Lester; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be 12:00 PM Monday, November 19, 2012, at Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, 645 East Canal Street, officiated by Rev. Adrian Brooks, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday from 10:00 AM until service time at the church.
