In addition to his many civic activities there, Ed was director of the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library from June 1962 until June 1995.
He is survived by his two adopted children Kim Pickard (Cincinnati) and Randall Forster Howard (Seattle) and their sons Alex and Chris Pickard and Neal and Jay Howard. He is pre-deceased by his wife Phyllis (Hawkes Vincent) Forster Howard, the biological mother of Kim and Randall.
A private family gathering will be held for Ed. In lieu of cards, Ed asked that you write your congressperson in support of funding peer-reviewed biomedical research, including cancer research, by the National Institutes of Health.
