Dr. Edward Dorsey Marting

Dr. Edward Dorsey Marting went to be with the Lord on December 23, 2025. He loved the Lord and was a great Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather and loved by many. He was born on April 20, 1928 in Evansville, Indiana to Fred and Gladys Marting. Growing up on a farm in Birdseye, Indiana, he volunteered for the U.S. Merchant Marines during WWII in the Army Transport Service as well as serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

Ed was especially grateful for his formal education which began in a one-room schoolhouse in Riceville, Indiana and culminated with a PhD degree in business from Arizona State University. He was a founding faculty member of ISUE at Centennial School, and retired as a Professor from the University of Southern Indiana. His interests included being with family, teaching, traveling the world, watching sports, reading, and learning. For the past year, Ed has enjoyed watching the deer and birds from the shared home with his daughter and son- in-law in Honeoye Falls, NY.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Gladys Marting, first wife of 54 years Barbara June (Pendley) Marting, second wife Barbara Louise (Haas) Marting, his brother Charles, and sister Wilma Fite.

He is survived by his son Bradford (Jennifer), daughter Michelle Linn (Chuck); grandchildren Michael Marting, Ashley Westropp (Robbie), Danielle Pagani (Brynn Capwell), Laura Rivas (Edwin), and Douglas Pagani; step grandchildren Victoria and Diana Linn; great- grandchildren Reese and Jameson Westropp, and Elio Rivas; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2025 at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois St. Evansville, IN. Friends and family may visit from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
