

He was a member of VFW Post 1114; American Legion Funkhouser Post 8; National Order of Battlefield Commissions; Twin Towers; River Bend and St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Michigan Street, Evansville, IN. He was first inducted to the 11th US Cavalry in 1941 and later served in the 8th Armored Division in WWII. He received a Battlefield Commission during WWII where he received the Rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He was the manager of manufacturing at Whirlpool where he retired after 40 + years. He enjoyed golfing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores (Rueger).
Edward is survived by daughter Gayle J. Bailey (Randy); son, Alan Ripplemeier (Sharon); brother, Ralph Ripplemeier; grandchildren, Brian Bailey (Danielle Jean), Andrea Smith (Rodney), Audrey Wood (Seth), Kari Stephens (Brandon), Christy Ripplemeier; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Caden, & Kirsten Bailey, Jacob & Gabriel Smith, Kaitlyn Wood, and Caleb Stephens; sister-in-law, Jeanett Rueger.
Services will be 10:00AM, Saturday, June 30, 2012, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jeff Long with burial in Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit, Friday, June 29, 2012, from 2:00PM until 8:00PM and Saturday from 9:00AM until service time at the funeral home.
