

Edward graduated from Batavia High School, Buffalo State Teachers College, and Ohio State University. He taught 3 years in Puerto Rico, worked 12 years for Purdue University and worked 25 years for University of Evansville.
He served as chairman of Tri State Regional Science Fair for many years, was active in Phi Delta Kappa and TKE Fraternity and was editor of the Journal of Cooperative Education for 3 years.
Edward was a member of Old North UMC and served as a Sunday school teacher and numerous committees. He also served as part-time pastor in Pleasant Chapel, Baker Chapel, and Old North UMC. He served 2 terms as conference lay leader of Southwestern IN UMC Conference and was active in district lay activities. He enjoyed singing, participating in Glee Clubs and Choirs, and was in Savoyards Chorus in the Gilbert & Sullivan Productions.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy in 1996; and brothers, Donald and Richard Susat.
Edward is survived by wife of 12 years, Mary Anna Lee Susat; sister-n-law, Ruth Susat; stepsons, Jay Cross (Barbara), Don Cross (Donna), and Scott Clark; stepdaughters, Kimberly Griffin (Dan), Shannon Halterman, and Kristina Hooker (Alvin); 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10:30 AM Monday October 15, 2012 at Old North UMC, 4201 Stringtown Rd, officiated by Rev. Mike Monahan and Major David Minks, with entombment at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Alexander North Chapel.
