

He retired from Fruehauf Trailer. He was an avid fisherman, camper, deer hunter and gardener, and loved woodworking.
Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Myrna Halterman, in 2000; father, General Lee Halterman; mother, Mamie Katheryn (Wilson) Halterman; brother, Charles Edward Halterman; and sister, Mamie Lee Tate.
He is survived by his daughters, Sheila G. Brown, Darlene Anglin and Cynthia Halterman; son, Mark William Halterman; step-children, Martha Welborn, Sandy Brown and Dennis Moore; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, James “Todd” Halterman and Milton “Dink” Berry Halterman; sisters-in-law, Doris VanZandt, Bonnie Greene, and Ann Halterman; brothers-in-law, Marvin (Jan) Johnson, Sylvester (Esther) Johnson and Frank Watson; close friend, Barb Estes; and many friends and neighbors.
Services will be 1:00 PM Friday, June 8, 2012, at Alexander East Chapel, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM and Friday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Deaconess ICU and Surgical staff; ICU Nurses, Margaret and Christian; Surgical Floor Nurse, Lori; and Dr. Lewis for the care he gave Elmer over the years.
