Elsie was married to Carl Slaton for 46 years before he passed away on December 3, 1997. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, brother James Ray Duncan, sister Imogene Sallee, nephew Dale Clayton, and niece Kimberly Daves.
Elsie was beloved by her friends and family, treasuring each minute she spent with them. She loved all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Elsie was a hard-working woman who took care of everyone no matter the time or circumstance. She loved to garden, sit on the porch swing, and watch hummingbirds. She was an amazing cook, no one left her house hungry. Elsie had a remarkable memory and often reminisced about her childhood experiences growing up on a farm and the early years of her marriage. Her storytelling, cooking, friendship, and, most of all, her love will be missed.
