Erv graduated from F.J. Reitz High School in 1952. He worked in construction for 29 years, 26 of those years with Industrial Contractors and he was site construction manager at G.E. Plastics in Mt. Vernon for 16 years. Erv was the project manager on the following projects :1987-Evansville Airport Terminal Building, 1989-Schnucks Super Center West in Evansville, 1990-Mt. Vernon Jr. High School, 1991-Southern Indiana Gas and Electric Co. New Administration Building in Evansville, 1993-I.C.I. Office and Warehouse Renovation, 1993-Redspot New Research and Development Facility, 1996-Casino Aztar in Evansville, and many more projects. He was a member and trustee at Westwood Church. Erv was also a member of the Westside Nut Club for 40 plus years and was a past President and Fall Festival Chairman. He was the chairman of restoring model T truck, fire truck and built WSNC warehouses. He started the WSNC Foundation. He was also one of the founding fathers of the Evansville Junior League Football. In addition, he was a member of Big Blue Boosters, R-Men’s and the USI Varsity Club. He enjoyed boating, camping and fishing on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes and spending time with family and friends. He was always there to lend a helping hand.
Ervin was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Elizabeth (Ungethum) Buente, wife, Carolyn Sue Buente; daughter, Terri Lynn (Buente) Schmuck, and 8 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Karen (Armstrong) Buente; sons, Mike Buente and Jeff Buente (Janet); grandchildren, April Schmuck Boeke (Elmer), Summer Wilderman (Roger), Amanda Buente Redding (Spencer), Sara Buente and Rachel Buente, and great-grandchildren, Quentin Boeke, and Emma and Bailey Wilderman.
A Funeral Service will be 10:00AM, Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Alexander Memorial Park-Heritage Chapel, 2200 Mesker Park Drive, officiated by Rev. Ted Groves. Friends may visit 3:00-8:00PM, Friday June 22, 2018 at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street.
