Ethel R. Schuster

Ethel Ruth Schuster of Evansville, IN passed away March 3, 2019 after a long fight with multiple schlerosis. She was 91 years old. Her contributions to the lives of so many are too numerous to count. She will be missed for her sense of humor, perpetually bright view of life despite her physical struggles, and overwhelmingly kind heart. Ethel was an inspiration to all her knew her. Her family was her pride and joy, and her legacy will live on through them. Ethel was born on July 17, 1927 to John & Emma Krich of Cleveland, OH. She married Kurt Schuster on August 14, 1948 and had three children, Robert Schuster, Sheryl Schuster, and Jan Laufer. She worked as an administrative assistant in the Department of Social Services for EVSC until her retirement in 1983. Ethel is survived by her son, Robert Schuster, San Jose, CA; daughter, Sheryl Schuster, Evansville; daughter Jan (Laufer) Schuster, Evansville; grandchildren, Stacia and Christopher Schuster, and Benjamin and Carly Laufer; great-grandchild Lincoln; sister-in-law, Mary Schuster, Tallahassee, FL; niece, Donna Woeckner and her husband Phillip. She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers and sisters, and her beloved husband, Kurt with whom she spent 65 wonderful years. Visitation will be Friday, March 8, 2019, from 11:00 am – 1:00 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home North Chapel. A brief service will be held at 1:00 p.m., also at Alexander North Chapel. A private grave-side service for family members will follow. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Kurt & Ethel Schuster Memorial Fund. In cooperation with the EVSC Foundation, the fund will be used to assist deserving students who qualify for the EVSC Honors Orchestra program, who would otherwise not be able to participate. Sheryl, I just wanted you to know that it was my privilege to take of Ethel all these years. I know she is in a better place now and Her & Kurt are back together again. She always made my day brighter. I know how much you miss her. Just know that her & Kurt are watching over you. Call me anytime you need to I can listen. God Bless You for all you have done for Ethel & Kurt. I know they appreciate you.
