

She was a homemaker, wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor and friend. Etna was a lifetime member of Westside Christian Church where she served many years as church secretary, as well as other roles in the church. She will be greatly missed by all those who loved and knew her. The family wishes to especially thank the hospital staff who cared for her while she was in ICU.
Etna was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 59 years, Robert L. “Bob” Elliott; brother, William “Bud” Thompson; and her parents, Chester and Vada (Wooten) Thompson.
She is survived by her only daughter, Glenna J. (Elliott) Dowden; grandchildren, Diane D. Leonard of Gray, GA, Keith D. Dowden of Winston-Salem, NC; great-grandchildren, Evan Micah Leonard and Erin Joy Leonard; cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, December 30, 2011, at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Rev. Gary Brunson, with entombment in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Westside Christian Church or a favorite charity.
