Born December 9, 1931, at the height of the Great Depression in Evansville, Indiana, Faye graduated from Evansville Central High School in 1949. She was a proud member of the National Honor Society and the Quill and Scroll Honorary Society.
In 1956, Faye was united in marriage to Charles William Riggs, with whom she shared 55 loving years until his passing in 2011.
Faye worked for many years as a dedicated telephone operator, serving at Indiana Bell, Sears, and AAA before enjoying a well-earned retirement. She and Charles spent their retirement years in the Citrus Woods community of Lakeland, Florida, where they were active members of Crystal Lake United Methodist Church. In 2023, she returned to her Indiana home to be closer to family.
A talented and gifted singer, Faye had a beautiful soprano voice and was passionate about music. Throughout her life, she joyfully shared her vocal talents with numerous church and school choirs.
She was an avid puzzle enthusiast who especially loved crossword puzzles — though in later years, she became almost obsessed with word searches, delighting in the challenge and focus they required.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles; her parents, Verble Bryant Bone and Guy Bone of Evansville; and two sons, Thomas and Paul Riggs.
Faye is survived by her son, T. Randall Riggs (Toni) of Newburgh, IN; daughters Laura Riggs of Madison, WI, and Rebecca Riggs-Plymire(Chuck) of Beaverton, OR; five grandchildren, Ryan (Audrie) and Tyler (Suvi) Riggs, Melissa Moss, Lauren Plymire, and Lindsay (Plymire) Steele(Jason); and five great-granddaughters and three great grandsons, Hannah Riggs, Angelina Rose Moss/Sanchez, Juniper, Raelyn, Lulu Riggs, and Jacob, Charlie, and Benjamin Steele.
Faye will be remembered for her kind spirit, her love of music and family, and her ability to bring joy to those around her.
