He worked as a custodian for the EVSC for many years and was a World War II Veteran. He started his journey as a brother at St. Meinred, and as Jeremiah 29:11 says, God has His own plans for us. He left St. Meinred to help his sister, Dorothy, raise her five children. After 11 years, he met Rita and started his own family. Frank lived the words of scripture, “Husbands, love your wives as Christ loved the church.”
Frank and his wife, Rita, became ordained ministers and as a young family they traveled as evangelists and ministered in jails and prisons. They also took several hurting people into their home. Frank served as an elder in several churches. About nine years ago, he and Rita started pastoring their own home church. During a trip to Israel, they were blessed to baptize 11 people in the River Jordan. Through traveling and outreach, many souls were touched by God’s love.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rita (Minette) Nellis. God gave them five beautiful children, Frankie J. Nellis, Rita (Bob) Hollander, Ann (Walt) Hatfield, Paula (Ralph) Duncan and Chris (Crystal) Nellis; and 11 grandchildren, Gloria, Hannah, Bobby Joy, Charity and Daniel Hollander, Ashley and Samuel Hatfield and Christina, Emily, Madison and Ian Xavier Nellis. He is also survived by two brothers, Benjamin and John Nellis.
Please join us in celebrating Frank’s life and Homecoming Saturday, February 23, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Bible Center Cathedral, 5000 North First Avenue, Evansville.
