

Frank G. Wilkins III passed away peacefully at St. Vincent’s Hospital on Thursday, November 16, 2017, in Evansville, IN at the age of 77. He was born May 28, 1940, in Evansville, IN to Howard E. and Lola (Phillips) Wilkins.
Frank graduated from Central High School and was a Navy veteran. On June 7, 1960, he married Trechia (Mohr). Over their 57 years of marriage, the couple was blessed with four children and cared for numerous others. His family remembers Frank as a strong but gentle man, and a devoted husband and father. He served in the US Navy from 1956 to 1965. After 28 years of service as a Narcotics Detective, Frank retired from the Evansville Police Department, but continued to serve his community long after retirement. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Police, US Naval Institute, USS Rich Association, Sharkhunters International,VFW Post #1114, and the Germania Maennerchor.
Frank was preceded in death by his father, Howard E. Wilkins; brother, Ronald Wilkins; son, David A. Wilkins; granddaughter, Raven Constance Mears; and nephew, Shawn M. Wilkins.
He is survived by his mother, Lola M. Wilkins; wife of 57 years, Trechia K.Wilkins; children, LaVonna K. Wilkins, Charles R. (Tina) Wilkins and Frank G. (Jessica) Wilkins IV; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Howard R. (Carol) Wilkins; and niece, Kellie J. Wilkins.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM Sunday, December 3, 2017, at Germania Maennerchor in Evansville.
