Fred was a charter member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. He was a World War II Army Veteran and a member of the 3rd Armored Division: Spearhead Group. He was also a member of the Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department and retired from Mead Johnson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Gander Rabe; daughters, Nancy Szeredy, Lynda Rhoades and Joyce Samples; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister, Betty Strueh of Evansville/Lafayette.
Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, January 30, 2012, at Alexander West Chapel, with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 PM and Monday from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.
