

He graduated from F.J. Reitz High School and went on to serve in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Once Gary departed from the Army, he began his career working for F.J. Folz & Concrete Company. Gary and his son owned a DJ Company for over 25 years. He truly loved DJing. Gary also worked at and retired from Evansville Supply, now known as CED Evansville Supply as a Warehouse Manager and then sales.
Upon retirement he loved to spend time with his grandkids, always looking forward to going to their baseball and soccer games. Gary enjoyed mowing his lawn, bowling, boating, playing cards, collecting antiques, and watching football.Gary was an avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts, St. Louis Cardinals, and University of Evansville Aces basketball team.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mildred Ivy; and brother, Rick Ivy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Carole Ivy; children, Corey Ivy (Jessica) and Chelsea Means (Justin); grandchildren, Abi Savage, Cameron Ivy, Owen Cooper, Parker Means, and Bennett Means; and 3 great grandchildren.
A private funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Darmstadt. Friends and family may visit from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 20th, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Darmstadt.
