Gary E. Mitchell

Captain Gary Edward Mitchell, U.S. Navy, Retired, of Evansville, passed away, Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Deaconess Hospice Care Center. He had distinguished service to his country in the Navy and worked for the Treasury Department for forty years.

He was a graduate of F.J. Reitz High School and Evansville College.

Surviving is sister, Carolyn Tyring (Gene); brothers, Keith (Kathy) and Jeff (Carolyn Kenney); beloved Aunt Francis and Uncle Ron; cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, JoAnn Elizabeth Mitchell, father, Edward J. Mitchell; and brothers Troy and Bruce Mitchell.

Services will be held at 2:30 PM, Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Heritage Chapel, Alexander Memorial Park, 2200 Mesker Park Drive, Evansville, IN 47720. Dr. Dennis Davenport, Eastminster Presbyterian Church will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00PM until service time on Monday. There will be a celebration of Gary’s life in the family center adjacent to the cemetery office immediately following the services.
