Gary G. Setser

He was born April 16, 1951, in Bedford, Indiana, to Granvil and Hazel (Watkins) Setser.

Gary graduated from Shawswick High School in Bedford, Indiana, in 1971. Gary worked at Oakland City University until his retirement and enjoyed his time there.

Gary enjoyed being outdoors. He built various projects over the years and maintained a large garden, often sharing produce with family, friends and neighbors.

Gary was a person of Christian faith and attended Friendship Baptist Church in Oakland City, where he developed close relationships within the congregation and maintained long-standing friendships with the pastor and his family.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and by his first wife, Peggy Wargel, the mother of his two children, and his wife, Deborah Boyd Setser.

He is survived by his children, Jaime Pack and Paul Setser; granddaughter, Peggy Setser; sisters, Rita Hoke, Lana (Carl) Gassman; brother Mark Setser; uncle Ray (Ruby) Watkins; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Rehabilitation Center and Heart to Heart Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Gary in his final days.

Visitation will be held at Alexander Funeral Home-North, 4200 Stringtown Road, Evansville, IN 47711, US, on June 25, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
