

He served in the US Army and worked for Pierre Funeral Home for 10 years. Gary then went on to become a much-loved fixture at Alexander Funeral Home for 37 years where he headed the Smart & Safe Seniors Program and Escape School Program. He served as a deputy sheriff in Posey County and then as a commander at Marrs Township Volunteer Fire Department. Gary enjoyed biking, fishing with his brothers, and always helped his brother at his flea market. Gary truly had a servant’s heart and always thought of others. In both his personal and professional life, he was always helping someone. He had a massive impact on countless people, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Terry Wire.
He is survived by his sister, Connie Hommrich (Patrick); brothers, Ronnie Wire (Mary Ellen), Randy Wire, Jimmy “Bubba” Wire, and Kenny Wire (Sandy); life-long companion, Dawn Brumback; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2025 at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois St. Evansville, IN, officiated by Pastor Bill Altman. Friends and family may visit from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
