Gerald F. Wohlhueter

He married Grace Pollard on November 3, 1945. He worked at Western Auto in Carmi, IL before he went into the service and again after he returned from his tour of duty. Gerald was a WWII Veteran where he was a staff sergeant in the Army until he was discharged in October 1945. He worked at Inland Container for 32 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Fairlawn United Methodist Church. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1114. He loved working in his garden and doing yard work.

Gerald will be greatly missed by his family and the many people he befriended over the years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Grace; daughter, Judy Morell; father and mother, Fred and Kate; his brothers, Gil, Ralph, Cyril, Oscar and Vic; and sisters, Agnes Gunther and Vivian Deffendahl.

Gerald is survived by his son, Mike; daughter-in-law, Terri; two grandsons, Jason (Cori) and Nick; a very special great-granddaughter, Joanna Grace; sister, Irene Millikan of Champaign, IL; nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Patrick Jackson, with burial at Big Prairie Cemetery in Epworth, IL. Friends may visit Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the dedicated and compassionate staff at VNA Charlier Hospice Center for their special care of Gerald, and Grace when she was there two years ago.
