She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and enjoyed doing retail sales while working at Strouse’s Clothing Store. She also enjoyed sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, traveling and playing Bridge.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Gowdy, in 2002.
She is survived by her son, Bob (Sally) Gowdy of Bloomington, IL; grandson, Jeffrey (Micki) Gowdy of Indianapolis; granddaughter, Amanda (Dustin) Sluder of Evansville; eight great-grandchildren; and eight nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Mitch Gieselman and Rev. William Clayton, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
