He was born on December 24, 1942 in Grosse Pointe, MI, but grew up in Darmstadt, IN. Gregg attended Scott Elementary School and Reitz High School. He graduated from the University of Kentucky and primarily worked for George Koch & Sons as an Industrial Sales Rep. Gregg was actively involved in front-porch neighborhood watching with his afternoon bourbon.
Gregg was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Hartwell Bailey and Margaret Vannice Bailey and his brother-in-law, Carlton Auer.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlene (Char) Allison Bailey, his three children, Tom (Jennifer) Bailey of Parker, CO, Allison (Eric Doll) Bailey of Georgetown, KY and Graham (Ann) Bailey of Dayton, OH. Gregg’s grandchildren, Zelma, Hartwell, Cecilia and Harrison lovingly called him Papa. He is also survived by his two sisters, Sue (Russ) Seiler and Sally Auer.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Bethlehem United Church of Christ, 6400 Oak Hill Rd. Evansville, IN, officiated by Rev. Emily Slade.
Friends and family may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois St. Evansville, IN, and from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Friday at church. Private burial to be held at a later date.
