

He graduated from Rockport High School in 1945 and was a veteran of the US Army, serving from 1945-46 in the Philippines. He married Mary Eula Johnston from Rumsey, KY, on April 25, 1951. They resided in Patronville, IN, where they were members of Patronville United Methodist Church. He began work at Owensboro Armature Works and eventually became part owner in the business. After retirement, he and Mary moved to Evansville where Harold worked at Swanson-Nunn Electric and they became active members of the Methodist Temple.
Harold is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Eula (Johnston) Shourds; sister, Marjorie Morris of Rockport; daughters, Julie Culiver of Newburgh and Candace Adye (Arthur Jr.) of Evansville; adored grandchildren, Andrea Culiver Lampkins (Ross) of Indianapolis, Adam Culiver of Newburgh and Arthur Adye III of Evansville; three nephews, Danny, Dean and Dale Morris; and his “angels” who have provided love and support to both Mary and Harold over many years.
Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, September 23, 2011, at Methodist Temple, 2109 Lincoln Avenue, with a graveside service at 11:30 AM at Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, and Friday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.
