Helen L. Horton

Helen Louise Horton, 83, of Evansville, IN passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Heart to Heart Hospice. She was born in Evansville on July 4, 1939, to the late Carl V. Ebmeier and Helen M. Diefenbaugh. For many years, Helen ran a home-based daycare. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loving on her dog, Bear. Helen loved to sing and dance to her old country favorites. She also liked playing cards and sipping a Diet Coke on her back patio. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Albert “Bob” Horton; infant daughter, Lisa Renee; grandson, Blake Horton (Ashley); sister, Bessie Stephenson (Kelly); brothers, Ralph Ebmeier (Lynn), Carl Ebmeier (Alberta), and Frank Ebmeier (Willie). She is survived by son, A. Robert Horton (Tracey); daughter, Lori Dimmett (David); grandchildren, David Michael Dimmett (Gretchen), Haley Dimmett (Nathan); and Maddie Horton; great-grandchildren, Parker Horton, Noah Cornwell, Mia Cornwell, Wyatt Dimmett, Owen Horton, Kyler Cornwell; and several nieces and nephews. Helen's family extends a thank you to the staff of Heart to Heart Hospice for their care and compassion. Helen's funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street, Evansville, IN, officiated by Pastor Cathy West and Rev. Clarence Horton. Friends and family may visit on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery, 1526 S. Green River Road, Evansville, IN.
