

Helen Florence (Waters) Oakley, 89, of Gallatin, TN, formerly of Evansville, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015, in Gallatin. She was born February 9, 1926, in Evansville, to the late James and Esthers (Voelkel) Waters.
During World War II she worked with the USO Letter Correspondence program with the soldiers and was a Rosie the Riveter. Helen volunteered as a Pink Lady and enjoyed playing golf and Bridge regularly. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies while living in Lakewood Ranch, FL. Helen loved music, especially Gospel, and reading her bible. She enjoyed life. Her family was very important to her and she especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Helen is survived by her husband of 69 years, James Oakley; son, Vaughn (Barbara) Oakley; grandchildren, Angela, Christy, and Michael; and great-grandchildren, Sarah, Luke, Wyatt, Colin, Ruffin, and McLain.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at Alexander Memorial Park in Heritage Chapel, officiated by Helen’s son, Vaughn Oakley, with entombment to follow. Friends may visit Wednesday from 10:00 AM until service time at Alexander Memorial Park in Heritage Chapel.
