

Henrietta L. Northcut, 96, of Evansville, passed away Monday, February 16, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born November 7, 1918 in Evansville, to the late Edward and Matilda (Friday) Haase.
Henrietta was a member of the Sigma Alpha Iota Music Sorority and Sigma Alpha Business Sorority. Her friendships with her sorority and former students were very important to her. The highlight of her career was when she was asked to be Emcee for the Sigma Alpha National Convention. Henrietta spent her career as a piano teacher and had taught at University of Evansville Preparatory School of Music. She was very active in the music community and was a member of St. John’s East United Church of Christ. She had an incredible love for her family, raising her children and backing her husband’s music career was very important to her. Henrietta cherished the special relationship she shared with her granddaughter for the past 20 years. She also had a wonderful sense of humor and was a very stylish lady.
Henrietta was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Northcut, who was the love of her life.
She is survived by her daughters, Lynn (Ray) Yonts of Evansville and Jan (Richard) Blackburn of Indianapolis; and granddaughter, Heather Madriaga of Evansville.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, February 20, 2015, at St John’s East United Church of Christ, 7000 Lincoln Avenue, officiated by Rev. Kenneth Townsend and Rev. Ray Yonts, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, and Friday from 10:00 AM until service time at the church.
The family would like to thank Dr. Hubert Reyes and his staff, the Fourth Floor Step Down ICU Unit nurses and techs at St. Mary’s Medical Center, and Sonya with Heritage Hospice for their wonderful care.
