Homer “Pete” Love, 100, of Evansville, IN went to be with the on Lord Saturday, August 22, 2020 at home. Homer was born on April 14, 1920 to the late James Finley Love and Lena (Smith) Love, in Rumsey, KY.
He was one of twelve siblings. He married Wanda Lee Schutts on April 12, 1946 in Evansville. Homer and Wanda were married for 67 years and had five children. He was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre from 1941-1943. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist church in Evansville where he was a faithful church bus driver for twenty years and a member of the Agoga Tabernacle men’s sunday school class. Homer was a true leader and hero to his family and was a friend to all.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, 10 siblings; and two children, baby girl Gay Louise Love born in Evansville and Ronald J. Love of Maryland.
Homer is survived by his three children, Stan (Glenda) Love, Sherilyn (Randall) Johnston, and David (Sharon) Love all of Evansville; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild; sister, Stella Decker of Calhoun, KY.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday August 29, 2020 at Alexander West Chapel and live streamed at www.facebook.com/FuneralStreamUSA. Burial to follow in Tupman Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his late wife. Friends may visit 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
