
Iness R. Parker, 96, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2010, at North Park Nursing Center. Iness (nee Rearden) was born April 5, 1914 to Cicero and Sue Rearden in Hancock County, KY near Hawesville. She was the youngest of seven, Edna Nugent, Hubert, Earl, Vera Parker (not same family), Ruby Hudson and Lula Rearden. Her parents and siblings preceded her in death. On June 11, 1938, she married Thomas E. Parker in Evansville. They worked for Woodmere State Hospital during the Great Depression. During WWII, she worked manufacturing machine gun bullets for airplanes in Evansville. They had one son, Paul Vern Parker, November 10, 1944. She was active in Central Methodist Church and later years, Bethel Temple. She was active in Eastside Home Economics Club and clabber clubs.
She worked full-time for DeJong's on the Eastside in Lawndale starting in the late 1950s and retired at 65 in 1979.
Her husband died in August of 1996. After his death Iness moved to The Atria Assisted Living in Newburgh for five years. Becoming a dementia/Alzheimer's patient, she lived in North Park Nursing Center for almost 6 years.
Survivors are son, Paul V. Parker & wife Joanne T. Parker of Glen Carbon, IL, their daughter Christina P. Lawrence and husband Bradley R. Lawrence of Maryville, IL and their son Andrew B. Parker and wife Stacy W. Parker of Troy, IL. Iness had four great grandchildren: Mackenzie (8) and Brayden (2) Lawrence as well as Bryce (5) and Heidi (3) Parker; and niece, Betty Fay of Evansville.
Services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at Alexander East Chapel with entombment at Oak Hill Mausoleum. Friends may visit Tuesday from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
