

Irene Butcher, of Englewood, FL, formerly of Evansville, IN, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, May 4, 2025. She was born in Mooleyville, KY, on May 25, 1931 to Walter Smith and Mamie Austin Smith.
She attended Albright United Methodist Church and later Christian Fellowship Church. She was a great cook and awesome baker. She always had fresh homemade dinner rolls, pies, cakes, and cookies. At Christmas time, she would bake at least 10-12 different varieties of cookies for her children and grandchildren. She loved going to all her children's and grandchildren's many different sports games. Irene and her husband, Virgil spent many hours at the baseball fields.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Butcher and son, Barry Butcher. Irene is survived by her son, Bruce Butcher (Kathie) of Englewood, FL; son, Brian Butcher (Debbie) of Columbus, OH; seven grandchildren in Indiana, Florida, Ohio, and Tennessee; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Alice Murray; and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025 at Alexander Funeral Home East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville, IN, with Pastor Cliff Herring officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Barnett Chapel Cemetery in Elberfeld, IN.
