Jim proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the LCS (L) (3) 11 “Lucky 11” during WWII and enjoyed his annual reunions and continued friendships with his shipmates. He worked as a printer for the Evansville Press for 35 years and was a charter member of Northeast Park Baptist church where he proudly served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for many years. His faith, family, and friends were the most important things in life to him.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou to whom he was married for almost 60 years; and sisters, Josephine Ramsey and Linda Long.
He is survived by his daughters, Diana Simpson (Rick), Jo Creekmur, and Terri Creekmur–Hughes (Dale); grandchildren, Chris Megar, Todd Megar, Ryan Megar, Courtney Leer, Claire Hughes (Jeff Siegel), and Anthony Hughes; great-granddaughter, Joslyn Megar; brothers, George Creekmur (Mida) and Lester Creekmur (Candy); sister, Jean Castleberry; brother-in-law, Larry Long; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Nancy Woods.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Northeast Park Baptist Church with Steve Taylor officiating. Friends may visit on Friday 4-8pm at Alexander East Chapel and on Saturday 9am-11am at the church.
