

He was a United States Army Veteran and was a member of the Kentucky National Guard. James was a diesel mechanic for 28 years and was ASE certified. He owned his own business and also worked for other companies. James was a past member of the Classic Cruisers and a devoted member of New Hope Pentecostal Church.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Zelma “Jean” Culver; late-wife, Matilda Culver; parents, James and Elsie Culver; brother, James Larry Culver; sister, Chiquita Buchanan; daughters, Christy Drury and Ruthie Butler; and granddaughter, Summer Culver.
He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Farmer (Harold E.), Janet Young (Jim Hazel), and Loretta Butler; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, James Junior (J.J).
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, at New Hope Pentecostal Church, 5 Meadow St, Henderson, KY 42420 with Rev. Tony Payne officiating. Friends and family may visit from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the church and from Noon until service time on Friday. Burial will follow at Fernwood Cemetery in Henderson.
