

James E. Cummings, 76, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015, at Deaconess Hospital. He was born January 1, 1939, in Evansville, IN, and was the first of 10 children born to the late John and Mildred Carwile.
He was a self-employed carpenter with Cummings Construction for over 50 years. He was an animal lover and raised chickens, ducks, labs and beagles. He enjoyed poultry and dog shows and loved to hunt and fish. James also enjoyed woodworking, especially birds and decoys, and loved to cook. He was a former mason with the Grand Lodge of Illinois and a member of Ainad Temple in Illinois.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon (Ford) Cummings; brother, Tom Carwile; and grandmother, Leora Brink.
He is survived by his children, Marty (Regina) Cummings, Michelle (Gary) Jones, Kristine (Mark) York, Charlene (Mark Glover) Harris and Jamie (Jeff) Neal; grandchildren, Veronica and Molly Cummings, Mitchell, Koltin, Morgan and Taya York, Blaine Davis, Hailey Harris, Dallas Glover, and Allison, Haley, Chase and Cooper Neal; siblings, Sammy Carwile, Peggy McCullough, Ann Miller, Bob Carwile, Debbie Hall, David Carwile and Lucile Rusche.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at Alexander West Chapel, with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Wednesday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
