James Robert Higdon

James graduated Memorial High School in 1977 and went on to graduate from ITT tech. Although he worked various different jobs, he most recently worked for his nephew in lawn care and landscaping. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends most. He was a proud grandpa and would do anything for his grandkids. James lived his life fearlessly and carefree of others opinions. He had a contagious laugh, a big goofy smile, was caring and would help anyone when he could. He accepted everyone he met and loved them without judgement. He enjoyed fishing, watching anime, eating Chinese and chicken wings, drinking a cold Ski with his potato chips, and celebrating his recovery of 16 years and counting. James was a firm believer in the program Narcotics Anonymous and he spent a lot of his time practicing, leading, and serving within various roles in the organization. It was his mission to help anyone who wanted to recover. His current home group was Primary Purpose at Patchwork Central.

He is preceded in death by parents Russell and Harriett Higdon.

He is survived by siblings Charles (Joan) Higdon, Chester (Rae) Higdon, Joe (Nancy) Higdon and Dorothy (Kenny) Kaiser. Longtime friend and parent of his oldest three children, Angie Pund. Children Shaun (Tina) Higdon, Alicia (Taylor) Higdon, Kristie (Trevor) Higdon, and Tanner Higdon. Grandchildren Seth (Jaya), Aaliyah, Sophie, Hunter, Zoey, and Liam. As well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank the CVICU and Oncology nurses, and Palliative care nurse at St. Vincent Hospital as well as the hospice physician for the care and compassion they showed James during his final days.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday March 15, 2024 at Alexander North Chapel. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home with entombment to follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
