

She was employed as a secretary for the Indiana State Police, she worked for a travel agency, and later worked alongside her husband, Calvin, as an insurance agent with Allstate Insurance. Jane enjoyed traveling and especially cherished trips to Alaska, the Caribbean, and the Baltic region. Jane was the proud "mother" of four foreign exchange students and was a dedicated wife to an active Marine. She had a special love for plants and her dogs, especially Maggie.
Jane is survived by her daughters, Ginger Talsma (Brian), Kimberly Ashley, Wendie Miller (Adam) and Cheryl Farmer (Chance); sister, Janet Hughes (Jim); grandchildren, Cole Talsma, Jesseca Gerlach, Bailey Miller, Abigayle Miller, Morgan Miller, Adalyn Farmer, Silas Farmer and Michelle Ashley; great grandchildren, Jace Michael, Noah Michael and Levi Michael, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Ashley; her parents, and daughter, Lori Ashley.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, June 26, 2026 at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street, officiated by Pastor Rick Sellers, with final resting place in Alexander Memorial Park. Family and friends may visit Friday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
The family would like to make a special thank you to the staff at Deaconess, Linda White Hospice and Dr. Toelle for their compassionate care. Also a special thank you to her neighboring buddy, John Billman.
