Janet G. Thomas

Janet dedicated her life to caring for others, serving as a registered nurse for over 41 years, most of that time at Deaconess Hospital. She was a 1971 graduate of the Deaconess School of Nursing. Janet was a devoted member of Annunciation Parish and shared her love of community as a member of the Tri-State Corvette Club. She had a passion for gardening, flowers, sewing, reading, and spending time at the beach. Janet taught her granddaughters how to bake, craft and sew, and never missed an opportunity to cheer on her grandchildren at their sporting events.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Joyce Franklin; and aunt, Ellen Lynch.

Janet is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gregory Thomas; daughter, Laura Macke (Lucas); son, Michael Thomas (Jennifer); sister, Judy Schell; brothers, James Williams (Linda), David Williams (Mary), and Charles Mark Williams; grandchildren, Erin Macke, Emma Macke (Fiancé Peyton Roof), Eve Macke, Elliot Macke, Alexia Thomas, and Cassidy Thomas; along with many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Alexander Funeral East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Ave., Evansville, IN 47714 with a Prayer Service beginning at 5:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025, at Annunciation Catholic Church, 3010 E. Chandler Ave., Evansville, IN 47714 with Fr. Benny Chacko officiating. Friends and family may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
