He was a WWII Air Force Veteran, serving as a radar mechanic 1946-1949. He received the Medal of Honor and the Victory Medal. Jesse retired as a Vice President of the HVAC division at George Koch and Sons. He was a longtime member of St. Peter’s U.C.C. Highland where he enjoyed helping with their Fall Festival booth. He was also a member of the Stringtown Men’s Club, where he served as President. He enjoyed baseball and coached pony league in earlier years. He loved helping those in need and had a very big heart.
Jesse was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Doris Jean (Ray) Gregory; daughter, Sheila Symreng (Tommy); son, Duane Gregory (Debra); grandchildren, Faith Deffendoll, Lindsey Mooneyhan and Ryan Gregory, and great-grandchildren, Hunter and Treyce Stanley, Kaleb Denney, Benjamin Deffendoll, Jackson, Jay and Jesse Mooneyhan.
Funeral Services will be 11:00AM, Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street, with entombment in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit 3:00-7:00PM, Monday, June 25, 2018 at the funeral home.
