

Joan Fulkerson, 93, of Evansville, IN passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the Evansville Protestant Home. She was born December 15, 1932 in Petersburg, IN to the late John & Muriel (Bothwell) Allen.
She began her work career as a hairdresser after graduating from DeVry Beauty School. After raising her family, she assisted her husband, Shelby Reynolds, with the family business, Permanent Motors, for many years. Joan later worked at Shane's Uniform Company where she was known as the “re-cut girl”. In 1997, at the age of 65, she retired from last job at TJ Maxx.
Joan graduated from Petersburg High School in 1950 where she played basketball and sang in the Glee Club. She accepted the Lord in her preteens and was baptized at Petersburg Christian Church.
After moving to Evansville, she became a very active member at First Christian Church from 1950 to 2012. She was part of the church bus ministry for 37 years, JOY Sunday School, taught pre-school children's church, Mary Circle Bible study, the Mother's Club. She also enjoyed singing in the church choir and participating in the Senior Adult Ministry.
In 2012, Joan became a member of Crossroads Christian Church where she took part in the Senior Adult Ministry, Agape Sunday School Class, and Grandma's Loving Hearts. Joan loved church fellowship and worship and attended as many church activities and children’s programs as she could.
Joan always put the Lord first and enjoyed sharing her faith with family and friends and whomever she met. In her earlier years, her family attended the North American Christian Convention one week out of every year. She faithfully supported ministries and missions and was proud to try and know each one by name.
She loved spending time with her family and having them over for family events. Joan was an excellent homemaker, loved cooking, and will be remembered for her wonderful salads, especially her fruit salads. Joan was very patriotic at heart, enjoyed spending time in her garden, and will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.
Joan was preceded in death by her father, John P. Allen; mother, Muriel (Allen) Kroeger; stepmother, Margaret Allen; first husband, Shelby J. Reynolds (2001); second husband, Albert Fulkerson (2011); daughter, Rebecca "Becki" Arnold (2014); son, Randall "Randy" Reynolds (2026); and sister, Dixie White (2016).
She is survived by her daughter, Sherri (Mark) Wakeland; daughter-in-law, Svitlana Reynolds; grandchildren, Andrew Arnold, Phillip (Wendy) Arnold, Sarah (Brandon) Wright, Matthew Arnold, and Raider Reynolds; great grandchildren, Jessica Arnold, Caleb Arnold, Luke Arnold, Rebecca "Becca" Arnold, and Adam Arnold; great great grandson, Lexington "Lexie" John; sister, Janice (Ralph) Wicker Brown; stepsister, Carolyn Mitchell; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. CDT and Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. CDT until service time at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville, IN 47714. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. CDT on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at Alexander East Chapel officiated by Pastor Phil Heller. Burial will follow in Park Lawn Cemetery.
