He retired from the Evansville Police Department and was a Medic in the National Guard.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Ray Benton.
He is survived by his daughter, Melanie Benton, and her mother, Lisa; daughter, Paige Benton and son, John Mark Benton, Jr., and their mother, Michelle; his mother, Shirley Benton; sisters, Linda Bufkin and Rhonda Duerson; brother, Jeff Benton; nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
