

J. Darwin Cecil, 92, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015, at River Pointe Health Campus. He was born May 23, 1922, in Evansville, to the late Charles Edward and Kathrine (Broadhurst) Cecil, Sr.
He retired after many years from Fautless Caster and was a 50 year member of Blue Grass United Methodist Church. Earlier in his life, he played the piano and organ and traveled with the Charlie Kroener Band. He was a member of the Lessing Masonic Lodge Number 464, Evansville Scottish Rite, and the Hadi Shrine Temple. He was also a member of the Tennessee Walking Horse Association. In his lifetime, he owned 44 horses and was proudest of Pride’s Fancy Man “Whitey” who won World Grand Champion Tennessee Walking Horse Show Pleasure Competition.
Darwin was preceded in death by his first wife of over 50 years Bettye (Riggs) Cecil, second wife Louise (Englehardt) Cecil, his parents; brother, Ed Cecil, and great-nephew Ryan Pate.
He is survived by nieces, Cindy (Howard) Washburn and Shari Pate (Virgil Moody); nephew, Mike (Jill) Cecil; two great-nieces, and two great-nephews.
Funeral Services will be 10:00AM Monday, April 13, 2015, at Alexander North Chapel, with burial in Blue Grass Church Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:30PM to 5:00PM at the funeral home, where a masonic service will be conducted at 5:00PM by Lessing Masonic Lodge.
