

He graduated from Reitz High School and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII in the Navy aboard the USS New Jersey from 1943-1946. He was a self-employed watchmaker and did work for Sears downtown and Roger’s Jewelers. Past memberships include Watchmakers of Indiana and American Watchmakers Institute.
John was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ursel, Aubrey, Robert, and Donald Freeman; sister, Jacquetta Sherrell, and son-in-law, Rodney Jones.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Beverly J. Freeman; sons, John Michael (Mary) and Curt (Jenny) Freeman; daughter, Melissa Jones; grandchildren, Steven Freeman, Emily (Brandon) Lehmann, Kevin (Allison) Jones, Laura Jones and Brian (Paige) Freeman; great-grandson, Jaxon Freeman, and brother, Sam (Pat) Freeman.
