

His family spent time in Virginia and New York before settling in Pennsylvania. John lived in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana during his adult years, having lived in Evansville for the past 20 years. He received a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Southern Indiana in 1992. He graduated from the University of Louisville in 1996, having earned a Master’s of Science in Social Work. He was a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and was also a Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor. John was extremely proud to be a member of Bill W.'s fellowship for more than three decades. He enjoyed dogs and nature.
John was preceded in death by both of his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife and friend, Diana (White) Gillespie; his step-children, Larry Miller and Lisa Barra of Louisville, Wendy (Miller) and Nathan Wary of Chandler, and Joseph and Tina (Adcock) Crider of Chandler; seven step-grandchildren, Drew Miller, Ayden Wary, Abigail Miller, Serenity Crider, Caleb Crider, Rylen Wary, and Jackson Miller; and many friends.
The family wishes to thank all of the friends and family who helped care for John through his illness.
Friends may call for a Celebration of Life Sunday, November 29, 2015, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, at Alexander West Chapel.
